Overview

Why this hackathon exists

AI is changing how HR teams hire, retain, and support people. This hackathon gives every employee a platform to explore that shift hands-on β€” not as spectators, but as builders.

The HR AI Innovation Hackathon is an internal initiative inviting individual employees from every function to design and prototype AI-powered solutions to real HR challenges β€” attrition and retention, hiring, employee experience, and workforce analytics among them.

Individual participants will get the chance to work with modern AI tools and low-code platforms to move from an idea to a working prototype in a matter of weeks, culminating in a live showcase in front of HR and business leadership.

Through this hackathon, participants will:

  • Apply AI and automation to real, ongoing HR problems
  • Build a working prototype β€” not just a slide deck
  • Learn alongside peers from other teams and functions
  • Get visibility with HR and senior leadership
  • Help shape how eClerx uses AI in people practices
Suggested Tracks

Where to point your idea

These themes are a starting point β€” you are welcome to propose your own HR-AI problem statement as long as it's grounded in a real business need.

Retention

Attrition & Retention Prediction

Talent

Talent Acquisition Copilots

AI assistants that screen, shortlist, and schedule β€” cutting time-to-hire without cutting quality.

Experience

Analytics

HR Analytics & Reporting Automation

Tools that turn raw HR data into decision-ready insight for managers and leadership, automatically.

Compliance

Policy & Compliance Assistants

Onboarding

Onboarding Automation

Smarter, faster onboarding journeys that get new joiners productive sooner.

Leadership Message

A note from HR leadership

AI is no longer a "future of work" conversation β€” it's a today conversation. This hackathon is our chance, as an HR community, to move from talking about AI to actually building with it: solving the retention challenges, the hiring bottlenecks, and the everyday friction our people feel, with tools we've built ourselves. I want every individual to walk away having built something real, and I can't wait to see what we create together.

Submission

Submit Your Idea

Ready to innovate? Fill out this form to register your individual idea. Your submission is saved to the hackathon server and appears on the Dashboard below for community visibility.

Data handling rule β€” please read. Do not paste real employee data, personal identifiers, salary records, or any confidential client information into this form, into CogniFlows, or into any external AI tool. Build and demo with synthetic or anonymised data only. Submissions that expose employee PII will be disqualified.
Submissions close 21 August 2026, 23:59 IST. You can save a draft at any time β€” your answers are kept in this browser until you submit. Fields marked are required.
About you

So we can contact you about training sessions, the AMA and the finale.

Used for confirmations and finale invites. Not shown on the public dashboard.
The problem

Judges care most about whether this is a real, recurring HR pain β€” be specific.

Pick "Other" if your idea does not fit an existing track β€” you can still win.
Your solution

Describe what you are building. A prototype link can be added later β€” resubmit the form to update it.

CogniFlows workflow, dashboard or app URL.
A 2–3 minute walkthrough helps enormously at judging.
Expected impact

Best estimates are fine β€” show your reasoning rather than a perfect number.

Feasibility

Being honest about effort and risk counts in your favour, not against you.

Practice

Practice Case Studies

Study these real HR scenarios to sharpen your problem-solving skills before the final submission. Use these as inspiration and practice for building your hackathon solution.

01

Early Flight-Risk Detector for New Joiners

Problem

A large share of attrition happens in the first 6 months. New joiners showing early disengagement signals (missed check-ins, delayed onboarding steps, manager feedback) need intervention before they leave.

Why It Matters

Early exits cost 50-200% of annual salary to replace. Early detection + HR intervention can prevent 20-30% of these exits.

Your Challenge

Design an AI workflow that ingests onboarding data (attendance, feedback, check-in records) and flags high-risk joiners by day 30, triggering manager nudges.

02

HR Policy Q&A Assistant

Problem

HR answers 100+ repetitive policy questions daily (leave, benefits, remote work, expense policy). Employees wait hours for answers that are already in the policy handbook.

Why It Matters

HR team spends 30-40% of time on Q&A that could be automated, freeing them for strategic work. Employees get instant answers 24/7.

Your Challenge

Build a conversational agent that understands policy documents, answers employee questions accurately, and escalates uncertain queries to a human HR rep.

03

Internal Mobility Matchmaker

Problem

High performers leave the company because internal opportunities don't reach them. Open roles are filled externally when strong internal candidates exist but were never considered.

Why It Matters

Internal hires have 50% higher retention, 40% faster time-to-productivity, and cost 30% less than external hires. Better mobility also improves employee engagement.

Your Challenge

Build a system that matches employee skills/experience against open internal roles, ranks candidates by fit, and proactively alerts them to opportunities.

FAQ

Good to know

All eClerx employees are welcome to participate individually. You don't need technical expertise β€” domain knowledge and creativity matter as much as coding skill. This is your opportunity to showcase your ideas and solutions independently.

No. Both technical and non-technical employees are encouraged to participate β€” HR domain knowledge is just as valuable as engineering skill. The platform (CogniFlows) is designed for both coders and non-coders.

While this is an individual competition, you can leverage mentorship, training sessions, and peer discussions. However, the final submission and idea must be your own work. Seek guidance but build your own solution.

A working prototype demonstrating your solution + a brief write-up of the problem, approach, and impact. The prototype can be a workflow, dashboard, chatbot, or any other form of working solution.

Yes β€” three training sessions on CogniFlows (Aug 10, 12, 14) + an AMA session (Aug 18) + contact support from the organizing team. Links and invites will be shared at kickoff.

Winning prototypes will be evaluated for real-world implementation. Top ideas may receive funding or sponsorship to move from prototype to production.

Yes, but we encourage focus. If you have multiple ideas, prioritize one for the hackathon and save others for a future cycle.

No. Use synthetic or fully anonymised data only. Do not paste employee personal data, salary information, performance records or client data into CogniFlows, this form, or any external AI tool. If your idea needs realistic data, generate a mock dataset β€” judges will not mark you down for it. Submissions that expose personal data will be disqualified.

Yes. Submit the form again with the same Employee ID and the latest version replaces your earlier one β€” useful for adding your prototype link once it is ready. The dashboard always shows your most recent submission.
